By incorporating biology into the social sciences, we can explain mechanisms through which socioeconomic, psychosocial, and other contextual factors shape human development and health

The term “biosocial” is widely used amongst social scientist but seldom defined. Recently, McDade and Harris (2018) defined “biosocial” as a broad concept referencing the dynamic, bidirectional interactions between biological phenomena and social relationships and contexts, which constitute processes of human development over the life course.
